Finally a Way to Organize Your Glasses!

I have a lot of glasses. Like WAY too many. I was so sick of them getting lost in the drawer, scattered and unorganized. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and search for SOME way to organize the mess. I am so happy with what I found, that I decided to share with you!

I ordered this organizer (well, 3 of them) from a shop on Etsy called ImproveResults! Not only does it look pretty cool, but it's so convenient. Now I am able to see all of my glasses at once when I am getting dressed in the morning!

Our Kitchen Reno: Before & After

When we bought this apartment (more on that here) we knew the weakest link was the kitchen. While it looked livable, the cabinets were falling apart and from 1999. They were made of a fake wood, and the previous owner put a white plastic coating over the top. We didn't love the granite, it just wasn't our style, and the appliances were all older. It wasn't a renovation we felt needed to happen ASAP, but we knew eventually we'd make it happen.

After we found out I was pregnant, our timeline for renovating sped up a bit. We are the kind of people who like to continue to live in our home while we renovate, and we weren't sure if we'd be down with that with a little baby around.

Enter Lowe's. We already used Lowe's to add our wood flooring in, so we figured we'd use them for our kitchen as well. This time around, we hit a ton of road bumps along the way. It's not that I would say don't use Lowe's, because we are SO happy with how the kitchen came out, but just be aware that it's not as smooth sailing as maybe hiring an outside contractor who is going to be on your job day-to-day monitoring the step by step.

In the spirit of honesty, let's discuss the good and the bad. First, the bad. The gentleman who came and took our measurements for our cabinets was in a bit of a rush, and he messed up our measurements - twice. The first time he accidentally did not include cabinets that went all the way up to the ceiling, so we had to reorder and push our install back almost a month. Then, after everything was installed, the cabinet above the refrigerator was too short. So yeah, i don't know what happened there. Also, the delivery service that Lowe's works with was AWFUL. Our building does not allow deliveries after 5PM, and every day they showed up hours after their scheduled 1-3PM delivery time, no apologies.

Now the good! The employees from the Lowe's kitchen section in our local store, Mary & Billie, were a HUGE help. They were there every step of the way to walk us through ordering, cabinet selection, sink selection, etc. They were even there to call on the day of the renovation for any snags that came up. The installers/ carpenters who were in our home installing our cabinets were a gem. They were extremely neat & organized, showed up right on time every day they worked, and did an all-around amazing job installing our cabinets and making sure that we were in the loop.

As a contractor's daughter, I know that no renovation goes 100% smoothly, and mistakes always pop up. Knowing this, I am satisfied with how quickly the actual instal process was, minus the few snags that happened along the way. Feel free to share any of your own stories in the comments, or ask me anything - this is the second kitchen reno we've gone through, so we're basically pros, right? I hope you enjoyed the before & after pictures!

*Thanks to Lowe's for partnering on this post. All opinions are my own!

How To Keep Wearing Your Favorite Brands While Pregant

There is nothing worse than saying goodbye to your favorite brands during pregnancy (except maybe saying goodbye to high waisted skirts & jeans). But, you guys, I found a loophole!

Seriously, at 6.5 months pregnant, I am still shopping at my favorite store, and feeling a tiny morsel more like myself. It feels good to be able to go into the store, try things on, look around, and know that there's things for me that still work on my body! Here's a few tips and tricks I've used during the process:

1. Size up. I usually wear an XS, and have been buying all S and M. The M is still a bit too big on me, but I know I'll thank myself in another month or two. The only thing to keep in mind - if you size up 1 size you can still continue to wear the item after pregnancy, but 2 sizes may be swimming on you.

2. Look for things with no waistline, or a higher waistline. This jumpsuit is perfect, because the waistline cuts above my bump. Check and make sure that whatever you are buying won't get in the way of your growing bump!

3. Make sure it fits your pre-pregnancy style. I made the mistake of rushing and buying clothes that I thought I'd wear during pregnancy in the 1st trimester. Now, 6 months in, I don't even touch them because they aren't truly my style. Make sure the things you buy fit your style! Just because something will work on your body now doesn't mean you're going to reach for it and wear it if it doesn't make you feel like yourself!

Here's a few of my most recent purchases that work during pregnancy:

Happy Bday To Me!

It's wild how much changes every year (and how quickly the years fly by!) Last year I had a different home, a different job and I had no clue that I would be pregnant this year! But 28 was a wonderful year filled with all extremely positive changes in my life! We finally moved to a home we're going to stay in for a while, I found a job that I don't just like, but that I LOVE, and I get to share my b-day donuts and cake with this little guy growing inside of me. I feel like Matt and I found a groove this year, which trust me is a hard thing to do when you both work remotely/ freelance.

BUT, looking ahead, I am so excited for 29. I thought I would be a bit sad knowing that this was the last year in my twenties, but the other day I realized that I would never, for a zillion dollars or a lifetime supply of free vintage, redo these years. It's onward and upward for me, and it feels good to finally have some things about life (or the life I want to live) figured out. Early and mid-twenties are adventurous and free-spirited and downright HARD sometimes. Things are less up-and-down these days, and I like it that way. I don't feel a day over 18, but I AM a decade older, and that's fine by me!

I'm celebrating my day in Martha's Vineyard with my parents, and can't wait to finish working for the day so we can go out for dinner and donuts! =P

^^ 25 weeks soon! Flying by!

High Waisted Skirts During Pregnancy

I was pretty devastated at the thought of going through a summer being unable to wear my high waisted favorites. That is, until I realized you can still wear a high waist during pregnancy! Of course I had to give up my high waisted jeans and vintage levi's cut-offs, but high waisted skirts with elastic waistlines are amazing to wear during pregnancy!

Here's a few tips on how I've been wearing a high waistline, along with some of my summer faves in stores right now:

- Make sure your skirt sits a bit higher than what you're used to... I usually wear mine almost under my chest. It doesn't look silly with a bump, just cute!

- Pair the skirt with a cropped top, or a blouse tied in a knot... oversized tops make the outfit look frumpy, so something fitted works better

- Size up, and make sure the skirt has a comfy elastic waistband all the way around. My skirts with elastic only in the back became tight very quickly!

Marthas Vineyard

It's a family tradition of ours to spend some time in Martha's Vineyard each summer (You can see past posts here, here and here!) I will actually be back all of next week with my parents for the week of my birthday, but here's some photos from July 4th weekend!

Some of our favorite things to do include getting breakfast at The Black Dog, seeing the gingerbread cottages which are SO cute and going to Tashmoo beach. This trip was extra special, because we were all talking about how excited we are to have our little guy here for next summer!

Have any of you ever been to Martha's Vineyard?

My 29th Birthday Wishlist ♥

My birthday is coming up, and I feel even older because most of my wishlist items are for the baby or the house. It's fun to try to think up a few things I'd love to have, but won't splurge on! Here goes...

1. As silly as it sounds, I've been searching for something to pack in my hospital bag to make me feel special after labor. I love this set (and actually snagged it for myself ;) )

2. I get so much wear out of my Swedish Hasbeens, and would love another pair! This pair is perfection.

3. Our bathroom needs some extra storage space, and I love this shelf from Urban!

4. Everything Kate Spade is usually right up my alley, but this bag is on a new level of awesome.

5. I've been searching for a woven wall hanging for the nursery, and I love this one

6. A spa day/ maternity massage would be amazing right about now

7. A personal trainer for after giving birth ;) (not really a way to add that to the wishlist with a photo!)
